Xiaomi continues its rapid-fire smartphone announcement as it introduces the new Redmi 9 in Malaysia. As far as entry-level phones at this price point go, this is a solid offering with some decent specs offering like quad cameras and a 5,020mAh large battery.
Here’s what you get for RM499 – a 6.53-inch Full HD+ display pushing 2340 x 1080 pixels, Mediatek Helio G80 chipset, Android 10 (with MIUI 11 skin on top), four cameras at the back which consists of a 13MP main lens, 8MP ultra-wide camera, 5MP dedicated macro lens and a 2MP depth sensor, a 8MP front selfie camera and the aforementioned 5,020mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging.
You also get a phone with dual SIM support, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, splash-proof nano coating, IR blaster as well as an audio headphone jack that refuses to die just yet.
The Redmi 9 is available in two configurations – a 3GB RAM + 32GB storage model that retails for RM499 and a higher up 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant with a RM599 price tag. All models come in a choice of Carbon Grey, Ocean Green or Sunset Purple.
